THE NUTSHELL PUB, BURY ST EDMUNDS SUFFOLK.
SATURDAY 4TH FEBRUARY 2006.
The Nutshell Pub is said to be the smallest pub in the UK,
and we certainly agree with this after spending a few hours investigating this location. Many tales have been reported about
ghostly goings-on at this tiny pub, including the spirit of a small boy who is seen in one of the upstairs rooms. The story
goes that he was murdered in an upstairs room, drowned in a tin bath to be exact. Other possible ghosts
include a nun and a monk. The monk is supposed to haunt the bar area and the cries of the nun have been heard coming
from the rooms upstairs. The ghost of a Victorian gentleman in a stove-pipe hat has also been seen upstairs. The
aroma of perfume is also reported to have been smelt down in the cellar. The Nutshell is also
full of strange curios, including a mummified cat that is supposed to ward of evil spirits, and a blocked off tunnel in the
cellar. With all these stories
circulating about the place, we thought that we would be sure to capture some evidence. Sadly, this was not to be. No spirits
were keen to interact with us on this occasion.
